ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
Cf. Isaiah 44: 3-4
I will pour water over the thirsty land,
I will pour my Spirit on your descendants,
my blessing on your children,
and they will grow like poplars beside flowing streams.
Or: Psalm 46: 5-6a
The streams of a river make glad the city of God,
the holy dwelling-place of the Most High.
God is within the city; it will remain unshaken for ever.
COLLECT
All-holy Lord and Father,
through the Blessed Virgin Mary
you have unsealed for us the fountain of salvation,
Jesus Christ, your Son;
grant that we who celebrate the memory of our Lady
may always draw from this wellspring of life
and bring forth a rich harvest
of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

I saw water flowing from the temple, and all who were touched by it were saved.
A reading from the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel
The angel brought me, Ezekiel,
back to the entrance of the temple of the LORD,
and I saw water flowing out
from beneath the threshold of the temple toward the east,
for the facade of the temple was toward the east;
the water flowed down from the southern side of the temple,
south of the altar.
The angel led me outside by the north gate,
and around to the outer gate facing the east,
where I saw water trickling from the southern side.
The angel said to me,
“This water flows into the eastern district down upon the Arabah,
and empties into the sea, the salt waters, which it makes fresh.
Wherever the river flows,
every sort of living creature that can multiply shall live,

Jn 19:25-37
One of the soldiers pierced his side with a lance, and immediately there came out blood and water.
✠ A reading from the holy Gospel according to John
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother
and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas,
and Mary of Magdala.
When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her,
he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.”
Then he said to the disciple,
“Behold, your mother.”
And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.
After this, aware that everything was now finished,
in order that the scripture might be fulfilled,
Jesus said, “I thirst.”
There was a vessel filled with common wine.
So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop
and put it up to his mouth.
When Jesus had taken the wine, he said,
“It is finished.”
And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.
Now since it was preparation day,
in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath,
for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one,
the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken
and they be taken down.
So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first
and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus.
But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead,
they did not break his legs,
but one soldier thrust his lance into his side,
and immediately blood and water flowed out.
An eyewitness has testified, and his testimony is true;
he knows that he is speaking the truth,
so that you also may come to believe.
For this happened so that the scripture passage might be fulfilled:
“Not a bone of it will be broken.”
And again another passage says:
“They will look upon him whom they have pierced.”
At the end of the Gospel, the Deacon, or the Priest, acclaims:
The Gospel of the Lord.
All reply:
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Then he kisses the book, saying quietly:
Through the words of the Gospel

Streams of living water shall flow from his heart.

On the last and greatest day of the feast,
Jesus stood up and exclaimed,
“Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink.
Whoever believes in me, as scripture says:
Rivers of living water will flow from within him.”
Jesus said this in reference to the Spirit
that those who came to believe in him were to receive.
At the end of the Gospel, the Deacon, or the Priest, acclaims:
The Gospel of the Lord.

PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS
Lord, change into the Sacrament of salvation
the gifts we joyously present
on this memorial of the most holy Virgin Mary,
for it was through her intercession
that your Son worked the first of his great signs,
changing an abundance of water into wine.

PREFACE: Mary, Fountain of Salvation
The Blessed Virgin Brought Forth Jesus Christ, the Fountain of Living Water.
℣. The Lord be with you.
℟. And with your spirit.
℣. Lift up your hearts.
℟. We lift them up to the Lord.
℣. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
℟. It is right and just.
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, and, as we celebrate the glory of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
to proclaim with fitting praise
the greatness of your name.
In the great mystery of the Incarnation
the Holy Spirit overshadowed the Blessed Virgin
and she brought forth your eternal Word,
Jesus Christ, the fountain of living water,
from which all may satisfy their thirst
to be one with you in a communion of love.
The Church also provided for all the faithful
the waters flowing from Christ’s side.
These are the rich, life-giving waters
served in the sacraments,
so that those who share in them with faith
may be filled with the Holy Spirit
and may find Christ, their Savior.
Through him the Angels of heaven
offer their prayer of adoration
as they rejoice in your presence for ever.
May our voices be one with theirs
in their triumphant hymn of praise:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Let anyone who thirsts and believes in me, says the Lord,
come to me and drink.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
Lord God, you have refreshed us
at your banquet of salvation
where we have drawn water in joy
from the fountain of the Savior;
grant that as we celebrate the memory of Blessed Mary
the Sacrament we have received
may be a spring of water
welling up to eternal life.
Through Christ our Lord.
SOLEMN BLESSING
The following Solemn Blessing may be used:

May the Father of mercies bless you
through the intercession of Blessed Mary ever-Virgin
through whom he chose to remedy the fall of our first parents.

May the Holy Spirit
